High School - lettered four years in softball under Coach Bernard Victor at Kailua High School. She earned OIA honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore, All State Second Team Utility player as a Junior and All State-East Second team Pitcher as a senior. Team earned an OIA Championship title in 2006. She played ASA Softball for the No'ao Softball Team her senior year of high school.

Born Ashley Ann K. Hopfe on August 27, 1989 and raised in Kailua, HI to mother Dana Minami Hopfe and father is David Kala'i. Has 3 sisters, Brittany Hopfe (22) Moani Kala'i (9) Christy Hopfe (7) and 1 brother Nawai Kala'i (14). Ashley is a majoring in Broadcast Communications with aspirations of becoming a reporter on television.
