CUH WSB: Chaminade Split Double Header with NDNU

Waipahu, HI- Chaminade took Notre Dame da Namur today in a double header match up at CORPS field. The Silverswords won the first game and lost the second game, they had a strong bottom half of the 7th inning to secure the W in the first game.

Freshman pitcher, Chelsi Walls pitched the entire game for the Silverswords. She struck out 5 and walked 4. She gave up 9 hits and only 2 earned runs. At the end of Top of the 5th Chaminade trailed by a score of 2 to 0, some clutch hitting in the last two bats for the Silverswords secured the 3 to 2 win.

In the bottom half of the sixth inning the bats for Chaminade came alive, led by junior, Brandi Sasaki, who doubled to right center field. Senior Carolyn Fisher kept the inning going with a single up the middle of the infield, moving Brandi Saski to third base. Freshman Melissa Harris belted the ball the left field and scored Sasaki on a sacrifice fly.

Chaminade went to into the last inning of play trialing by one run. In the seventh inning the Silverswords were led by Kristine Mihara who started off the seventh inning rally with a double to right center field, Brandi Sasaki doubled to left center field scoring Mihara from second base, with her double the score was knotted at 2. Carolyn Fisher was the next batter for CUH, she singled to right field and scored Sasaki from second base to seal the victory in game one for Chaminade. Chelsi Walls gets credit for the win and improves her record to 3-2 overall.

The second game started off with a two homerun in the top of the 1st inning for NDNU at the end of the first, CUH trailed by a score of 2 to 0. Chaminade had five total hits in game number two, they left 10 runners on base in the second game and were unable to score any of them, losing 2 to 0. Chaminade fought hard in the second game and despite their best efforts, ended up losing in the end. Kasy'e Lalau is charged with the loss, she falls to 0-2 overall.

CUH take on NDNU tomorrow at COPRS field in another double header match up, first pitch is set for 4:30PM for the first game, with the win and loss today the Silverswords record stands at 4-8 overall and 3-3 in the PacWest Conference. NDNU improves their overall record to 8-10 overall and 1-1 in the PacWest.
